This plane was carrying an ordinance. It was clearly on its route to bomb something in Ukraine. 

That parachute photo … Obviously we don’t know the exact details, but in cases like this, pilots can generally steer their craft toward uninhabited areas. It happens all of the time. This guy? Follows a pattern we’ve seen all war—a callous disregard for their fellow comrades. This pilot could’ve steered the aircraft toward the parking lot in front of the apartment complex, or some other nearby open space. But that would’ve required heroically going down with the plane.
