CO Republican Party caucus if Trump blocked from primary


The Colorado Republican Party announced that if former President Donald Trump is blocked from appearing on the primary ballot, it plans to shift to a “pure caucus system” instead.

After the Colorado Supreme Court declared that Trump should not be included on the primary ballot, GOP presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy pledged to withdraw from the Colorado Republican presidential primary until Trump is permitted to be included on the ballot.

“I pledge to withdraw from the Colorado GOP primary ballot until Trump is also allowed to be on the ballot,” Ramaswamy tweeted.

“You won’t have to because we will withdraw from the Primary as a Party and convert to a pure caucus system if this is allowed to stand,” the Colorado Republican Party tweeted in response to Ramaswamy.

The text of the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision states, “We conclude that because President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Secretary to list President Trump as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot. Therefore, the Secretary may not list President Trump’s name on the 2024 presidential primary ballot, nor may she count any write-in votes cast for him.”
