New Hampshire lawmakers slam ‘political pawns’ attempting to remove Trump from primary ballot

A slate of New Hampshire officials has sent a formal letter to the office of New Hampshire Secretary of State David Scanlan, pressuring him to act to protect election integrity ahead of the 2024 presidential primary.

The letter was signed by more than 80 New Hampshire lawmakers. In it, they made a case to protect President Donald Trump from “political attacks” aimed at removing his name from the primary ballot.

“President Donald J. Trump is once again at the forefront of political attacks, this time by those who are attempting to disqualify the former President from appearing on New Hampshire’s primary ballot by weaponizing Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment against him,” the letter stated.

Over the past few weeks, political adversaries of the 45th president have made rumblings about attempting to remove his name from primary ballots in 2024, citing his alleged role in the so-called “insurrection” of Jan. 6, 2021, as a reason to do so.

As reported by RSBN, Sen. Corky Messner, R-N.H., recently met with Secretary of State Scanlan to discuss whether Trump had tried to “overturn” the 2020 election results and whether that would disqualify him from the ballot.
