Suspect In Fatal Dallas Hospital Shooting Was Out Of Prison Early

The man accused in the shooting deaths of two doctors at Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Texas was released on parole on Saturday, despite his lengthy criminal history.

The arrest warrant affidavit for Nestor Oswaldo Hernandez, 30, states that during his girlfriend’s labor, he became erratic and accused her of cheating on him. He hit her with his handgun and then opened fire on the first two doctors who entered the room.

Hernandez was shot and injured by a Methodist Health System (MHS), police officer responding to the scene. Hernandez was then taken to another hospital. Hernandez was later arrested by the Dallas Police Department and MHSPD for capital murder.

At the time of the shooting, Hernandez was out on parole for a 2015 aggravated robbery in which he taped a woman’s hands and eyes, leaving her with a broken nose and fractured eye, before stealing her cell phone, vehicle, and at least $3,000 in cash. Hernandez pleaded guilty in 2015. He was sentenced in 2015 to eight years imprisonment. However, he was allowed to return to society in October 2021 with parole parameters.
